Cheers to 2024…

~ one wicked, snail crawl and lightning speed of a year.

I cannot believe it’s been four years since I’ve written a blog post. That’s so unlike me. However, I feel I can justify playing one of my three remaining “pandemic” cards to explain this literary missing in action episode. A lot has transpired since my November 30, 2020 blog post. A LOT. I have been very, very busy. Apologies and context however are in order. First off, I apologize to my inner writer. How does something like this happen? I have a formula: three paragraphs, four to five sentences each, boom. We all know scribes get writers block, but four years??? Second, I apologize to you if you’ve gotten accustomed to reading my periodic, literary treats. It’s definitely been one wild, never boring journey. As for 2024 being wicked…all the contexts apply. This year is/was exceptional, impressive, and deliberately hellish at times. Here’s a year in review, quarter style.

Q1: I embark on a 10-week, 200-hour yoga teacher training. This was a 12-year intention finally realized. My ongoing social media detox is still going strong. I’m vegetarian again and it’s sticking this time. Yay. As for dating? Mmm, let’s call it dating adjacent. Timeliness matters.

Q2: I begin my journey as a yoga instructor. I graduated from City College of San Francisco with my associate degree in psychology.

Q3: I visited Seattle, Washington for the first time attending the American Psychological Association (APA) conference. Pleasant city: very lush and green as well as excellent air quality. I begin my academic journey at San Francisco State University. Go gators! I launched a business. And it’s lit.

Q4: I dressed up as a pumpkin for Halloween. Spending time with my family in Chicago over the November-December holidays was wonderful. Dedication of a weekend in Hermosa Beach to scout potential post graduation residences proved refreshing, divinely orchestrated, and informing. Frequent travel is now my new normal. Fall semester finals are done. Three A’s and three B’s. I mean… I’ve already got graduate school on the brain. Be sure to check back for updates. I’ve been in San Francisco for five and a half years and four years living in the same apartment. That’s a long time for me. Usually I average one year anywhere. It’s apparent why I’m in SF: to finish my undergraduate studies and continue growing my businesses.

QA (Addendum): This year, as well as the other three years, haven’t been without tribulations. As for my four-year residency in the same apartment? Lord have mercy. Never underestimate the intensity of the clash of other people’s idea of what your life should be and what you know your destiny to be. Hate is real. Haters are the new paparazzi. And the devil stays busy. Yet here I am still thriving.

If there is one thing 2024 has taught me is that there is a time and place for everything. And tonight is/was the time for me to resume my duties as a Writer and upload this post. I mean what else am I going to do during my eight hour layover in Las Vegas until my a.m. flight back to San Francisco? Happy holidays! Note to self: only direct flights in 2025. Welp, 2024 it’s been one. I appreciate you tremendously. I will never forget you. And I am so looking forward to putting you behind me. I can clearly see 2025 enthusiastically waiting for me: handsomely winking ‘Shall we?’. To which I gleefully reply, “We shall.” Namasté.
