~ the benefits of a spiritual savings account

It’s easier to save money when you’re making money.  It’s also a breeze to get your spiritual practice on consistently when things are going great. But when the unexpected throws you a curve ball, you may suddenly find yourself dipping into that cushy savings account of yours more often than you had planned.  I truly believe the same applies with one’s spiritual practice.

There have been times (oh, like now.  I mean, how many planets are in retrograde this month?  Gawd.) when I simply haven’t had a free moment to get my meditation on in a serious way, let alone chant. And a series of nice stretches?  Good luck.  These temporary instances usually involve the basics and nothing else: sleep, work, eat, rinse and repeat.  I have to remind myself that I’m not slacking off but simply doing the best I can. Sometimes daily “life” outnumbers a 24 hour day.

So, just like a savings account, where we can withdraw some much needed cash until we get our flow back, as is our spiritual nest egg. Accumulation has merit.  On the days when I can’t recite a mantra 108 times (the ideal), three to nine times does the job.  Can’t make it to yoga class?  No problem.  One Goddess pose sets enough intention and energy in motion to get me through the day.  It’s all about the deposits we make into our souls, bodies, minds, and spirits.  And on the days when I’m making more withdrawals than deposits, I’m grateful I’ve done the right thing by having this account in the first place. ~ Namaste y’all…
