~ Because 2019 is the year of the Adult

I have a confession to make. I think people who surf are so flippin’ cool. Why? Here’s one human being, undeniably smaller than the OCEAN, yet there they are, in the water with their surfboard giving it a go. Isn’t that just like us and life? Ah. Now. What happens when life’s waters get a bit tumultuous? Then what? Well. Then it’s time to open up our closets and put on our “Responsibility wetsuit”. ‘Cuz trust me, if that thing ain’t on, rough waters aka life won’t get any better.
As of today I’m officially retiring as a bell hop. The only emotional/energetic baggage I’m going to willingly carry is my own. Will I continue to love others? Absolutely! However, I will be more responsible in HOW I love. I’m of no benefit to anyone else, including myself, especially myself, if I’m not taking care of me first. Will I laugh, have fun, and occasionally let my hair down? Uh, yeah, lol. I wholeheartedly believe life is meant to be enJOYed. Come on now 😉 I’ve also decided to forgive others more often. My rationale? Remembering the times when I was forgiven and the pure relief I felt. Oh…and this. I recently broke up with gossip. My antidote? Don’t do it because…it’s not nice, productive, or healthy. Period. Now, before we head back to the beach, a couple of questions…
Am I trying to surf in a pond? Am I lugging around my big ass surfboard, waiting on the right wave in a fucking puddle? OR. Am I actually in the ocean and I scurried back to shore because I didn’t know how to navigate a big wave? Am I on my belly, paddling (aka getting by) in the water because I haven’t acquired (or not putting to good use) all the skills I need to stand tall and unwavering on my board, give it another go and rock that shit? The questions are limitless if one isn’t riding those monumental waves and cruising on the water like one would desire. So for me, and perhaps the same for you, 2019 is the year I take full ownership of my surfboard (me) and remain in the ocean (life), and ride it (really live) in all the exhilarating, challenging, rewarding, amazing, fulfilling ways one does when they are flowing WITH the Universe instead of against it. Namaste Lovelies and Happy New Year…
