April 2017 was a doozy. There was a lot of crazy, disorganized, confusing energy racing around. Plus, Mercury was in retrograde (he’s direct now, thank God.). Yet we made it through. Take a moment to high five yourself. You earned it. I saw the lovely, lyrical genius and performer Lorde in concert last month at Jazz Fest. It was THE BEST concert I’ve attended so far. She was the reason I went. And seeing it was my first time going to Jazz Fest, what a way to set the tone!
For those of you who don’t know, New Orleans had some INTENSE weather that day. And I don’t mean a little rain here and there. I’m talking about a full fledged, thunder and lightning, get out your poncho, rain boots, and canoe type of weather. I was out earlier that day and by the time I got home, I was drenched. Jazz Fest held off from starting Sunday, April 30th’s lineups on time because they were trying to get a bead on the forecast and how to proceed. I remember thinking they might end up cancelling the entire day. I wasn’t heartbroken though. I mean, it’s Mother Nature. Her planet, her rules. I recall a neighbor I saw in passing saying, “Maybe things will clear up.”
And around 2 in the afternoon, they did. Not a rain drop in sight. I realized what a profound reminder that was to not allow oneself to get caught up in the drama of a storm in your life, whatever that may be. Let things run their course. Like a yoga instructor firmly encouraged me in class one time when my muscles were crying, ‘Oh, hell no!’, she commanded “Let it shake!” You see, EVERY GOOD THING that is destined to happen, will go as planned no matter how bleak things appear at the moment. Like Lorde’s concert. Right. On. Time. To quote this really cool dude who encouraged me and my buddy not too long ago as we were rushing to get home, “A little rain never hurt nobody.” Namaste y’all…
