~ entertaining my inner child while rewarding my outer adult

“It’s like therapy, without the cheese,” said a library employee when I inquired further about an upcoming wine and coloring get together for adults. In all transparency, the flyer had me at wine. What sealed the deal however were some other, bigger picture elements that reinforce why I write, my love of language, and the benefits of interacting with those in my community.
I love libraries. I always have. My mother developed in me a strong appreciation of books by reading to me regularly as a child. Spending time in a library is much more than being surrounded by a bunch of books and computers. Libraries are also a physical manifestation of millions of literary artists putting their work out there, sharing their craft, and imparting wisdom.
So whether it’s free wine and tasty nibbles, creating colorful art, meeting new people and listening to their stories, getting out of the house and/or unwinding from a full work day, it’s all therapeutic. Because at the end of the day if you leave feeling better, you’ve been healed. Namaste y’all…
